FP&A, Budgeting & Commercial Insight

Embedding financial discipline in a scaling business.
Turned fragmented planning into a forward-looking framework that informed smarter, faster decisions.

Challenge
In a fast-growing, multi-entity environment, planning processes were inconsistent and reactive. Budgets were disconnected from operational realities, forecasts were static, and business decisions were often made without a reliable financial lens. Without integrated visibility, the business was exposed to misalignment between strategy and execution, with reduced investor confidence and internal inefficiencies.

Approach
I introduced a group-wide, fully integrated 3-way forecasting model, covering profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow. The model enabled real-time scenario planning and gave stakeholders a single, reliable view of financial trajectory.

I also implemented a cross-functional project appraisal framework to improve decision-making on new investments — combining financial evaluation with operational risk and compliance checks. Key insights from license and revenue lifecycles were built into rolling forecasts and budget cycles to improve timing, prioritisation, and accountability. Finance was repositioned as a strategic partner to the business, not just a control function.

Impact

  • Introduced consistent planning discipline across multiple entities.

  • Enabled strategic decisions with real-time insight and scenario flexibility.

  • Improved board confidence and investor conversations through transparent, forward-looking forecasting.

  • Formalised project evaluation processes, improving investment outcomes and reducing commercial risk.

  • Delivered a finance function that shaped decisions, not just reported on them.
